In order for a gallery to appear a certain way, or with certain controls, you create and apply a style that includes your desired options. Gallery styles are managed in the ProPhoto Visual Builder, under Elements > Galleries > Styles.
Here you can edit or create an existing style. (Make sure to give your styles descriptive names so you can tell them apart later and for when you assign them.)
When customizing your gallery style, the Gallery Behavior section offers three main types of galleries.
The standard style shows one image at a time. Use this for slider or slideshow galleries. A carousel style is a fixed height strip of images with the previous and next images visible. A thumbnail style galleries is what you choose if a grid of images is desired.
Each style has a lot of options so make sure to peruse the settings in both the General and Controls tabs when setting up a style.
All free and paid designs come with at least one pre-existing gallery style and most have at least three.
Choose a default gallery style by clicking the star next to a style. This style will be what is automatically used by any new gallery modules, all gallery pages (from "Galleries All Galleries") and any gallery that is inserted into a page or post. Your default style should be the style you want to use most often. This default style can always be overridden for individual galleries.
Apply a gallery style
After you have created a gallery style, it will be available for use with any gallery.
Apply a style when creating a gallery
Each gallery page in "Galleries All Galleries" has an option to override the default style with another style just for that page. Simply choose a style with the dropdown. Any time the gallery page is accessed directly, this style will apply.
Apply a style when embedding or linking to a gallery
You can override these default settings when you embed a gallery. For example, when inserting a gallery into a post or page:
Or select a gallery style when inserting a gallery module:
How can I display my gallery images as full size?
Any gallery in a post or page can be displayed as full size images instead. This is not really a gallery style, so much as a different way to insert your images. When inserting a gallery into a post or page you'll be presented with full size images style, which inserts them directly into the post/page in a single column. The benefit of this are twofold:
- You don't have to hunt through your media library to find these particular images to insert directly.
- Any edits you make to the gallery (add, delete, reorder) will be reflected in these full size images.
For galleries that have already been inserted, edit the gallery to find that full size option again.
